McEntee Law Group was proud to sponsor the Chicago Irish Film Festival 2026 and members of the firm attended opening night for Baité. The film played to a full house and set the tone for the festival, with the director, writer, and actors (Ruán Magan, Sheena Lambert, Eleanor O’Brien, and Moe Dunford) in attendance for a live Q&A.
Baité is a slow-burn drama set along the Irish coast, where place plays as much of a role as the characters. The story centers on a small group of people dealing with loss, memory, and the weight of staying in a place that both holds them and limits them. It doesn’t rush to explain itself. Instead, it lets moments sit, with long stretches of quiet, tension, and reflection.
The film leans on strong, yet understated, performances and a sharp sense of atmosphere. The coastline, the weather, and the isolation all feed into the story. There’s a realism to it that feels grounded, which made hearing directly from the cast and director after the screening even more compelling.
Events like this also reflect how global the film industry has become. Many filmmakers, actors, and creatives work across borders, regularly moving between countries like Ireland and the United States. In this context, immigration considerations should be top of mind. Whether you are premiering a film, collaborating internationally, or building a career in the U.S., timing and planning matter when it comes to visa options and long-term status.
As a firm with strong Irish roots, this work is personal to us. If you have questions about Irish citizenship, U.S. visa options for creatives, or bringing your work to the U.S., you can book a consultation with our team.
Can filmmakers come to the U.S. for festivals?
It depends on the activity. Some may enter as visitors, but many situations require a visa, especially if there is paid work or promotion involved.
What visa options are available for creatives?
Common options include O-1 visas for individuals with strong portfolios and P visas for groups or performers, depending on the project.
Can I qualify for Irish citizenship through family?
If you have an Irish-born grandparent or parent who was born outside of Ireland but was an Irish citizen at the time of your birth, you may qualify via Foreign Birth Registration. Each case depends on documentation and timing. Take our Irish Citizenship Quiz to see what options you may have.
